This I take to be agreeable to St. Peter's interpretation of this passage of the prophet, quoted by him, 1 Peter , 1 Peter "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth and the flower thereof falleth away; but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

All flesh is as grass (Isa. ). God's word lives forever, but the flesh is as evanescent as the grass. The fleshly life, like the grass, is soon felled by death, but a birth from the living and eternal word is a birth to eternal life. The word of the Lord endureth forever. Like its author it .   I was in love with Isaiah , as the sweet words would ring through my mind, “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”Until one day, I came to know exactly why I loved this verse so very much. Let us take this journey together, beginning with Isaiah (although we could also profitably consider Isaiah , as well as Isaiah ).Author: Gregorio Billikopf.

All flesh is grass is a much-quoted phrase from the Old Testament, Isaiah (Hebrew: כָּל־הַבָּשָׂ֣ר חָצִ֔יר ‎ kol habbasar chatsir). In the New Testament the phrase reoccurs in the First Epistle of Peter (see 1 Peter ; Greek: πᾶσα σὰρξ ὡς χόρτος, pasa sarx hōs chortos). It was a commonly used epitaph, frequently found for example on old ledger. Daily Devotional in I Peter 1. Daily Nugget: “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” I .
